Welcome-Participants will use the graphic organizer (KWL chart) to express:
What I Know What I Want to Know What I Learned, based on the pre-training video and the introduction to the wiki workshop by answering the following questions: What is a wiki?
What is a wiki? A wiki is a web site that visitors can become a participant. They can create or edit the actual site contents without any special technical knowledge or tools. All that is needed is a computer with an Internet connection. Users can asynchronously edit the content that is visible on the page. A wiki can be public or private and changes made by users are tracked so that anyone can see who made what changes when. A wiki can be as simple as one webpage, or it can be a complex structure of multiple webpages and weblinks. Wikis can be frequently used for collaborative projects. What can you do with a wiki? Improve students writing skills Enable students to learn outside of school hours. Educators can track student participation and achievement. Used for brainstorming, lists, categorizing, and prioritizing information. Collaborative website posting by student peer reviews, group projects, collaborative discussion notes (student-created), problem-solving, discussions, and collaboration skills.
